Montana Canoe and Kayak Trips and Rentals
The Canoe Rack is the center of the Missoula river community. They feature state of the art canoes, kayaks, sea kayaks and all the gear needed.
The owner, Ben Schmidt, is one of the most knowledgeable rivermen in Missoula, and the organizer of every major river event in recent years.
Located close to the center of Missoula and right on the river just down stream from the new whitewater park this is the perfect place to start your Montana adventure.
Rentals
We rent what we sell. This means you will be renting the best canoes and kayaks available, helping to make your time on the water more enjoyable.
Rates:
- $40 Day Open-close
- $50 Overnight Open-close of following day
Rental Includes:
- Canoe, 2 PFD, 2 Paddle, 2 Cam straps
- Kayak, 1 PFD, 1 Paddle, 1 skirt, 2 Cam straps
Backyard Explorations Day Trips
Enjoy Montana with every stroke. Our Paddle MT crew will lead you to our favorite spots close to home. We will show you trips for any skill level. We will show you launch points and noteworthy points along the way. Fun day trips different every time. Try something new and meet some others who enjoy paddling.

Ed-Ventures, Be Smarter
Wouldn’t it be nice to name the rock you just hit, or maybe identify the bird call you just heard. Well that is what Ed-Ventures is all about. We will use our boats to travel and enjoy the many other aspects of the water environment. From botany, birds, to the water shed, and physical geography. A specialist in their respective field and paddler will educate you as you also enjoy a day on the water. No home work, just practical knowledge of your backyard.

Wednesday Night Floats
The every popular Wednesday Night Floats. WNF has been a staple of the Canoe rack for years and will of course be back this year. If you haven’t heard WNF is an opportunity to simply get out. We will enjoy the evening on the Clark Fork and will see Missoula from a new perspective. Novice to expert, young and old, everyone who can swim can come. Make a plan for a mid –week decompression from work and enjoy Missoula from the water. We even do the shuttle for you and will show you where the bus service runs so you can go anytime you want.
