Confluence Tomato Soup

I cannot remember when we started serving this. It is one of the guides favorites. One day after a very cold day on the Grand Canyon in December we pulled into Upset Hotel beach and whipped up the soup and grilled cheese.
- 1 medium onion diced
- 1 cube butter
- Fry onion until golden in the butter in a large pot
- ADD:
- 1 large can crushed tomatoes and simmer for 15 minutes
- ADD:
- 2-3 TBSP Chicken soup base and blend leaving some chunks
- ADD:
- 2 cans evaporated milk and heat but DO NOT boil
- Salt and pepper to taste
